I’m very pleased to announce that my second novel will be published by Palewell Press, with a provisional publication date of October 2026. The novel’s entitled Songs from a Bookshop, and it’s set in 1956-57. Most of the action is in London and it’s about a mixed-race marriage: Edmund, London-Welsh and Nafah, exiled Palestinian. The Suez Crisis of 1956 creates strains in their marriage. Will they survive as a couple? There’s a prominent musical background of, firstly, trad jazz and then – by a rather circuitous route – folk revival.
